Toyota Has launch its new MPV, the Rumion, in India Recently. The Rumion is based on the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and is the fifth product from the Toyota-Suzuki partnership. What makes the Rumion different from the Ertiga?

The Rumion has some cosmetic changes over the Ertiga, such as:

  • A new front bumper with a revised fog lamp housing
  • An Innova Crysta-like grille
  • New dual-tone alloy wheels

The Rumion also shares its features list with the Ertiga, which includes:

  • A 7-seat configuration
  • A 7-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
  • An Arkamys sound system
  • Automatic climate control
  • Four airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability program and seat belt reminders for all seats

The Rumion is powered by the same 1.5-litre petrol engine as the Ertiga, which produces 103hp and 137Nm of torque. It also gets a factory-fitted CNG kit, which reduces the power output to 88hp and 121.5Nm in CNG mode. The engine is mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

How long do you have to wait for the Rumion?

The waiting period for the Toyota Rumion will depend on the demand and supply situation, but it is likely to be less than that of the Ertiga, which has a waiting period of up to Four months in some cities. Toyota claims that the deliveries of the Rumion will begin in late September.

The price of the Toyota Rumion is yet to be revealed, but it is expected to be slightly higher than that of the Ertiga, which ranges from Rs 8.64 lakh to Rs 13.08 lakh. The Rumion may cost around Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000 more than the Ertiga.

Should you buy the Rumion?

The Toyota Rumion is essentially a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, with some minor cosmetic updates and a higher price tag. However, it may appeal to those who prefer the Toyota brand and its after-sales service. The Rumion also offers a hybrid variant, which is not available in the Ertiga. The hybrid variant has a longer waiting period of up to 16 months, but it may offer better fuel efficiency and lower emissions.

The Toyota Rumion is a decent option for those looking for a spacious and practical MPV with a reliable engine and a CNG option. However, if you are looking for more features, style and performance, you may want to consider other alternatives like the Maruti Suzuki XL6 or the Kia Carens.
