Instead, the petrol engine generates electricity to charge a battery and move the wheels using an electric motor. Thus, the petrol engine may operate efficiently and reduce emissions and fuel consumption.
A 1.5-litre petrol engine with 157PS/260Nm, a 1.5kWh battery pack, and an electric motor with 140kW (190PS) and 330Nm torque make up the new Qashqai’s ePower system. The ePower system gives drivers a one-pedal driving mode that boosts regenerative braking and an e-Pedal function that accelerates and decelerates with the accelerator pedal.
