Steps for Admission Process After Neet Result 2023
Step 1: Check your result and rank

The NTA will declare the NEET UG result on its official website https://ntaresults.nic.in/ by the end of June 2023. You will need your application number and date of birth to login and download your scorecard. The scorecard will show your marks obtained in each subject, total marks, percentile score, All India Rank (AIR), category rank and cut-off marks for qualifying. You should check your result carefully and take a printout of your scorecard for future reference.
Step 2: Apply for counselling
Based on your rank and category, you will be eligible for counselling for admission to various medical colleges in India. There are two types of counselling: All India Quota (AIQ) counselling and State Quota counselling. AIQ counselling is conducted by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on behalf of the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for 15% seats in all government medical colleges and 100% seats in central and deemed universities. State Quota counselling is conducted by the respective state authorities for 85% seats in state government medical colleges and private colleges. You can apply for both types of counselling online through their respective websites.
Step 3: Register and fill your choices
After applying for counselling, you will have to register yourself on the counselling portal and pay the registration fee. Then, you will have to fill your choices of colleges and courses in order of preference. You can fill as many choices as you want, but make sure to lock them before the deadline. You can also modify or delete your choices before locking them.
Step 4: Wait for seat allotment
Based on your rank, category, choices and availability of seats, you will be allotted a seat in a college and course through a computerized process. The seat allotment result will be published on the counselling website. You will also receive a provisional allotment letter through email or SMS. You should download and print the allotment letter for further process.
Step 5: Report to the allotted college
After getting a seat allotment, you will have to report to the allotted college within the specified time period. You will have to carry your original documents, such as NEET UG scorecard, allotment letter, admit card, identity proof, birth certificate, caste certificate (if applicable), etc., along with their photocopies and passport size photographs. You will have to verify your documents, pay the admission fee and complete the admission formalities at the college.
Step 6: Participate in further rounds of counselling (if required)
If you are not satisfied with your seat allotment or if you do not get any seat in the first round of counselling, you can participate in further rounds of counselling by opting for upgradation or fresh choice filling. You will have to follow the same steps as mentioned above for each round of counselling. However, if you get a seat in a higher preference college or course in a subsequent round, you will have to forfeit your previous seat and report to the new college.
Step 7: Join the college and start your medical journey
Once you complete all the admission formalities and get a final seat allotment, you can join the college and start your medical journey. You will have to attend classes, labs, clinics and exams as per the curriculum and regulations of the college and university. You will also have to follow the code of conduct and discipline of the college.
