Hyundai has recently launched its entry-level SUV, the Exter, in India with a starting price of ₹5.9 lakh. The Exter is available in five trims and two powertrain options: petrol and CNG. Engine
Both the S and SX CNG variants are powered by a 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine that produces 81.8 bhp of power and 113.8 Nm of torque when running on CNG. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The Exter CNG has a BS6-compliant emission norm compliance.
Mileage
The official mileage figures of the Exter CNG are not yet revealed by Hyundai, but we can expect them to be similar to the Grand i10 Nios CNG, which has a claimed mileage of 20.7 km/kg on CNG.

Hyundai Exter S CNG VS SX CNG Interior
The Exter’s interior design is based on the Grand i10 Nios, which has a well-appointed dashboard with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, steering-mounted audio controls and a sunroof. The Exter also has ‘EXTER’ embossed on the seats to give it a distinct identity. The Exter offers three colour schemes for the interior: black/green, black/blue and black/light grey.

The main difference between the S and SX CNG variants in terms of interior features is that the SX CNG gets six airbags as standard, while the S CNG gets only two. The SX CNG also gets a tyre pressure monitoring system, electronic stability control and three-point seatbelts for all occupants. The S CNG misses out on these features as well as some other niceties such as a dashcam, cruise control, a wireless phone charger and push-button start.

The Exter’s exterior design is inspire by Hyundai’s global SUVs such as the Venue and the Kona. It has a bold front fascia with LED DRLs with the H insignia and projector headlamps that are place in a large rectangular air dam. It also has a silver skid plate that gives it a rugged look. The side profile features black cladding on the wheel arches and doors, roof rails and stylized steel wheels that look like alloy rims. The rear end has square tail lamps with the H-motif and a gloss black plastic trim connecting them. The rear bumper also has a skid plate that adds to the macho appeal.
The only difference between the S and SX CNG variants in terms of exterior features is that the SX CNG gets 15-inch wheels while the S CNG gets 14-inch wheels.

Safety
The Exter comes with several safety features such as ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, rear camera, speed alert system, impact sensing auto door unlock and immobilizer. As mentioned earlier, the SX CNG variant gets additional safety features such as six airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, electronic stability control and three-point seatbelts for all occupants.
