In 2017, Hindustan Motors executed an agreement with PSA Group, a French automobile company, for the sale of the Ambassador brand, including the trademarks, for a consideration of Rs. 80 crore (US$10 million). The tie-up entailed two joint-venture agreements between the companies of the two groups. According to media reports, PSA Group is planning to launch a new version of the Ambassador car in India by 2023, with a modern design and features.
