Hyundai is all set to launch its new micro SUV, the Exter, in India on July 10, 2023. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming Hyundai Exter Interior & other important Features.
The Exter is a sub-4 metre SUV that will compete with the likes of the Tata Punch, Citroen C3, Maruti Ignis and other compact SUVs in the market. The Exter is based on the same platform as the Grand i10 Nios and Aura, but has a distinct design and features that make it stand out.

Hyundai Exter Exterior Look and Dimensions
The Exter has a quirky and youthful design that appeals to the young and urban buyers. It has a split headlamp setup with LED DRLs on top and projector lamps below. The front grille is large and hexagonal, with a honeycomb pattern and chrome accents. The front bumper has a skid plate and fog lamps with cornering function.
The side profile of the Exter is boxy and muscular, with black cladding around the wheel arches and lower body. It has 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, black roof rails, A-pillar mounted ORVMs with integrated turn indicators, and C-pillar mounted rear door handles. The Exter also gets a contrast black roof option for some variants.

The rear of the Exter has LED tail lamps that are connected by a chrome strip. The tailgate has a large EXTER badge and a rear wiper. The rear bumper has a faux diffuser and reflectors.
Dimensions
The Exter measures 3,805mm in length, 1,680mm in width, 1,590mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,450mm. It has a ground clearance of 190mm and a boot space of 260 litres.
Hyundai Exter Interior Features
The interior of the Exter is similar to the Grand i10 Nios and Aura, but has some unique elements. It has an all-black colour scheme with olive green accents on the seats and dashboard. The seats are semi-leatherette with patterned stitching. The dashboard has a textured effect and circular AC vents at the corners.
The Exter gets a fully digital instrument cluster with a 4.2-inch MID that displays various information such as speed, rpm, fuel level, trip meter, gear indicator, etc. It also has a multimedia system with an 8-inch tablet, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, built-in mapping, voice commands in more than one language, connected car features, a wireless phone charger, and changes that happen over-the-air (OTA).

Some of the other features that the Exter offers are:
- Automatic climate control
- Keyless entry with push-button start
- Cruise control
- Tilt-adjustable steering wheel
- Electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs
- Single-pane sunroof
- Dash cam with dual cameras
- Rain-sensing wipers
- Automatic headlights
The Exter also gets three-point seat belts for all three rear passengers and an AC vent for the second row. However, it does not have a rear centre armrest or adjustable headrests.

Engine and Transmission
The Exter is powered by a 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 83PS of power and 114Nm of torque. This engine is E20 fuel ready, which means it can run on ethanol-blended petrol up to 20 percent. The petrol engine can be paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox.
The Exter also gets a factory-fitted CNG kit option for some variants. The CNG engine produces 69PS of power and 95Nm of torque. It is only available with a 5-speed manual transmission. The fuel efficiency figures of the Exter are not yet reveal by Hyundai.

Hyundai Exter Variants and Colours
The Exter is offered in five variants: EX, S, SX, SX (O), and SX (O) Connect. The top-end SX (O) Connect variant gets Hyundai’s BlueLink connected car technology that offers features like remote commands, smartwatch integration, home-to-car connectivity with Alexa and Google Assistant support.

The Exter is available in nine colours, six single-tone and three dual-tone. The single-tone colours are:

- Cosmic Blue + Abyss Black

Exter Price and Rivals
The Exter is expected to be priced between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete with the Tata Punch, Citroen C3, Maruti Ignis, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, and other compact SUVs in the market. The bookings for the Exter are currently open for Rs 11,000. The deliveries are likely to commence by mid-July.
