Mahindra Scorpio EV: Platform and Powertrain

The Mahindra Scorpio EV will be based on the INGLO platform, which is a modular and scalable architecture that can accommodate various body styles, powertrains, and battery sizes. The INGLO platform will also underpin the Thar.e and the Bolero.e, as well as four other born EV SUVs that Mahindra plans to launch between December 2024 to April 2026.
As far as powertrain goes, the Mahindra Scorpio EV will get an RWD set-up with motors sourced from Volkswagen. The Scorpio EV could also get AWD with a dual motor set-up. Both SUVs are expected to use the Thar.e’s rugged P1 version of the INGLO platform, which will help with the SUV’s off-road character.
Design and Features
The Mahindra Scorpio EV will be based on the new-gen Scorpio, which has been in the works for quite a while now, with test mules spotted frequently over the last three years. Mahindra has confirmed to News9 that the new-gen Scorpio will finally be launched by the middle of 2022.
The new-gen Scorpio will feature a more modern and aggressive design, with a new grille, LED headlamps and taillamps, revised bumpers and fenders, and larger alloy wheels. The interior will also get a major overhaul, with a new dashboard, touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, steering wheel, and seats. The Scorpio EV will likely retain most of these features, with some changes to reflect its electric nature.
The Scorpio EV will also come with a host of safety and convenience features, such as ABS, EBD, ESP, hill hold assist, hill descent control, traction control, airbags, rear parking sensors and camera, cruise control, climate control, wireless charging, sunroof, and more.

New Mahindra Scorpio EV: Price and Launch
While there was no launch timeline given for the Scorpio.e at the event, Mahindra already has confirmed as many as four born EV SUVs that will launch between December 2024 to April 2026, which means market launch of the Scorpio.e is only likely to take place after April 2026.
The price of the Scorpio.e is also not revealed yet, but it is expected to be higher than the ICE-powered Scorpio, which currently ranges from Rs 12.42 lakh to Rs 16.27 lakh (ex-showroom). Scorpio EV will compete with other electric SUVs in the market, such as Tata Nexon EV, MG ZS EV, Hyundai Kona Electric, and Mahindra’s own XUV300 Electric.
