The Speed 400 is power by an all-new 398.15cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that churns out 40 PS of power at 8000 rpm and 37.5 Nm of torque at 6500 rpm. The engine get a six-speed transmission with a slipper clutch for smooth and easy gear shifts. The bike also comes with switchable traction control and Bosch dual-channel ABS as standard rider aids, which enhance the safety and stability of the bike.

The mileage of the Speed 400 is claim to be around 30 km/l, which is quite decent for a bike of this size and power. This means that the bike can offer a good range of around 390 km on a full tank of fuel. The fuel tank capacity of the Speed 400 is 13 litres.

Design and Features

The Speed 400 features a neat neo-retro design with several circular elements. The headlight is round and LED, while the taillight and indicators are sleek and LED as well. The instrument cluster is a semi-digital unit that displays speed, rpm, fuel level, odometer, trip meter, clock, gear position indicator and traction control status. The bike also gets bar-end mirrors for a retro touch.

The bike has a muscular fuel tank with knee recesses and a flat single-piece seat that offers a comfortable riding posture. The handlebar is wide and upright, while the footpegs are slightly rear-set. The bike has a hybrid spine/perimeter tubular steel frame that is suspended on an upside-down fork at the front and a preload-adjustable gas-charged monoshock with remote reservoir at the rear.

The suspension setup is tune for a balance between comfort and handling. The bike runs on 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels shod with Pirelli Diablo Rosso Sport tyres that offer good grip and durability. The braking system consists of a 300 mm disc with an radial caliper at the front and a 230 mm disc at the rear.

The Speed 400 has a kerb weight of 170 kg. Which is not too heavy for a bike of this segment. The seat height is 795 mm, which should be accessible for most riders. The ground clearance is not specified yet, but it should be adequate for Indian road conditions.

The Speed 400 is available in only one standard variant. It will be available in Carnival Red, Caspian Blue, and Phantom Black colour schemes.
