Tata Punch CNG launched at 7.10 Lakh Rs, Here are Variants & Price

Tata Motors, the homegrown automaker, has launched its most affordable CNG SUV in India today, the Tata Punch iCNG. The compact SUV boasts twin-cylinder technology and is available in five variants – Pure, Adventure, Adventure Rhythm, Accomplished, and Accomplished Dazzle. The Tata Punch iCNG is based on the regular petrol version of the Punch, which was launched in October 2022. The CNG version gets some cosmetic changes to differentiate it from the petrol version, such as:

  • A new iCNG badge on the tailgate
  • A blue accent on the front grille and fog lamp housings
  • A blue ring around the instrument cluster
  • A CNG mode indicator on the infotainment system

Apart from these changes, the Tata Punch iCNG retains the same design and features as the petrol version.

The Tata Punch iCNG is offered in five variants, namely Pure, Adventure, Adventure Rhythm, Accomplished, and Accomplished Dazzle. The Pure variant is the base model and comes with basic features such as dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, manual AC, power windows, and a 3.5-inch digital instrument cluster.

The Adventure variant adds features such as roof rails, wheel arch cladding, LED DRLs, rear wiper and defogger, electrically adjustable ORVMs, and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The Adventure Rhythm variant further adds features such as a voice-enabled electric sunroof, steering mounted controls, USB C type charger, front seat armrest, and a 7-inch digital instrument cluster.

The Accomplished variant gets features such as automatic projector headlamps, rain sensing wipers, a shark fin antenna and 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. The top-end Accomplished Dazzle variant gets an exclusive dual-tone paint scheme with a black roof and ORVMs.

The Tata Punch CNG is priced from Rs. 7.10 lakh to Rs. 9.68 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The prices are about Rs. 1 lakh higher than the corresponding petrol variants of the Punch. Here is the variant-wise price list of the Tata Punch iCNG:

Engine

The Tata Punch iCNG is powered by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder Revotron engine that can run on both petrol and CNG modes. In petrol mode, the engine produces 84 bhp of power and 113 Nm of torque. In CNG mode, the power output drops to 72 bhp and the torque output drops to 103 Nm. The engine is mated to a five-speed manual transmission only.

New Tata Punch CNG Mileage

The Tata Punch iCNG claims to offer a mileage of 28 km/kg in CNG mode and 18 km/l in petrol mode. The CNG tank capacity is 60 litres (30 litres x 2 cylinders) and the petrol tank capacity is 44 litres. This gives the Punch iCNG a total driving range of over 900 km.

The Tata Punch iCNG comes with some unique features that make it stand out from other CNG cars in India. Some of these features are:

  • Twin-cylinder technology: The Punch iCNG gets twin cylinders of 30-litres each located below the luggage ensures large boot space similar to the ICE SUVs.
  • Direct start in CNG mode: The Punch iCNG can start directly in CNG mode without using petrol as an ignition source.
  • Auto switch function: The Punch iCNG can automatically switch between petrol and CNG modes depending on the availability of fuel and driving conditions.
  • Enhanced safety: The Punch iCNG gets a micro-switch to keep the car switched off at the time of refuelling and an intelligent tyre pressure monitoring system (iTPMS).
  • It also gets six airbags, ABS with EBD, corner stability control (CSC), electronic stability program (ESP), hill hold control (HHC)
  • Traction control system (TCS), brake disc wiping (BDW), rollover mitigation (ROM)
  • Hydraulic brake assist (HBA), and reverse parking camera with dynamic guidelines.
