The Honda Amaze is one of the most popular compact sedans in India, offering a spacious cabin, a refined engine, and a reliable brand name. The current second-generation model was launched in 2018 and received a minor facelift in 2021. However, Honda is not resting on its laurels and is already working on the next-generation Amaze, which is expected to debut globally in 2024. The 2024 Honda Amaze will likely continue to be powered by the same 1.2-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 90 hp and 110 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to either a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox. The current Amaze has an ARAI-certified mileage of 18.6 kmpl for the manual variant and 18.3 kmpl for the CVT variant¹. The 2024 Amaze is expected to have similar or slightly improved fuel efficiency figures.

However, unlike the current Amaze, the next-generation model will not have a diesel option. Honda has already discontinued the 1.5-litre diesel engine from the Amaze lineup ahead of the RDE norms that will come into effect from April 2023. Honda has also decided to stop manufacturing diesel engines altogether in India. Therefore, the 2024 Amaze will be a petrol-only sedan.

The 2024 Honda Amaze will likely retain the same dimensions as the current model, which measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,695 mm in width, and 1,500 mm in height. The wheelbase of the Amaze is 2,470 mm, which is one of the longest in its segment and offers ample legroom for the passengers. The seats could get new upholstery and cushioning for better comfort.

The current Amaze comes with features like automatic climate control, cruise control, engine start/stop button, rear view camera with guidelines, speed sensing auto door lock function, tilt adjustable steering, rear armrest with cup holder, LED projector headlamps, LED fog lamps and 15-inch diamond cut alloy wheels. These features are likely to be carried forward to the new Amaze as well.

The safety equipment on the current Amaze includes dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, seat belt reminder, high-speed alert system and ISOFIX child seat anchors as standard across all variants. The top-spec variants also get side and curtain airbags. The new Amaze could add some more safety features like hill start assist, traction control, and electronic stability program to enhance its safety quotient.

Exterior Look and Changes

The exterior of the 2024 Honda Amaze is expected to adopt a more sleek and sophisticated look that will resemble the new City and Accord models. The front fascia could get a new grille with chrome accents and LED headlamps with DRLs. The bumper could also get a new design with larger air intakes and fog lamps. The side profile could get new alloy wheels and chrome door handles. The rear end could get new LED tail lamps and a redesigned bumper with reflectors.

Top Speed and New Features

The top speed of the current Amaze petrol manual variant is claimed to be 140 kmph, while the CVT variant is claimed to be 160 kmph. The top speed of the new Amaze could be slightly higher or lower depending on the weight and aerodynamics of the car.
