Mahindra Thar 5 Door is a longer and more spacious version of the iconic Thar SUV, with two extra doors and a longer wheelbase.
The Thar 5 Door will share its ladder-frame underpinnings with the Scorpio N, and will offer multiple powertrain options, including a 2.2-litre diesel and a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, both with manual and automatic gearbox choices.
The Thar 5 Door will retain the boxy proportions, flared wheel arches and rear door-mounted spare wheel of the Thar 3 Door, but will also get some new design elements such as a new grille, circular projector headlights and sleeker LED taillights.
The Thar 5 Door will have a more premium and comfortable cabin than the Thar 3 Door, with a new theme, a bigger touchscreen system, dual-zone AC, cruise control and up to six airbags.
The Thar 5 Door is expected to be launched in 2024, with prices starting from Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards. It will compete with other five-door SUVs such as the Force Gurkha, Maruti Suzuki Jimny and Mahindra Scorpio N.
