Tata’s micro SUV H2X concept was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo, later renamed HBX and Hornbill. Recently, Tata has revealed its exact name and named it Tata Punch, which may be launched soon during the festive season. Even before the launch, this micro SUV has started reaching the dealerships and the dealers have also started taking unofficial bookings.
Tata Punch Exterior
Recently, an orange Tata Punch was spotted near a dealership in Balewadi, Pune. The Tata Punch is built on Alpha-Arc (Advanced Light Flexible Advanced Architecture) and Impact 2.0 design language. The Punch will be the second car to be built on this platform after the Tata Altroz premium hatchback. In the product lineup, the Tata Punch will be placed below the compact SUV Tata Nexon.
2021 Tata Punch Booking
Although Tata has not officially announced its booking for the 2021 Tata Punch, some dealers are booking it at Rs 21,000. This 5-seater micro SUV will come in the sub-4 meter category. While it will be launched with a two-tone color scheme. It will have integrated door handles on the C-pillar. Interior
Speaking of the interior, it will have a large comfortable cabin, which can seat five people. Its top variant will get a semi-digital instrument cluster, floating display unit with the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, height-adjustable driver seat, and flat-bottom steering wheel. Also available are a push-button start, cruise control, rear armrest with cup holders, dual front airbags, EBD with ABS, and rear parking camera. For the first time in this segment, Tata Punch will have sand, mud, and rock traction modes with hill descent control.
Engine
Speaking of the engine, it will only have a petrol engine, which will be found in Tiago, Tigor, and Altro. It will get a 1.2 liter naturally aspirated, 3-cylinder petrol engine that will deliver 86 hp of power and 115 Nm of torque. While it will get the option of 5-speed manual transmission AMT. While it will be launched later with a turbo variant. The company is also planning to offer an alternative to CNG.
Price & Competition
Tata’s mini SUV Tata Punch will compete with Maruti Ignis, Mahindra KUV100. It is hoped that the Punch can be priced at an ex-showroom price of Rs 5 to 8.5 lakh. The company plans to keep the price low and challenge Maruti Swift, Hyundai i10 NIOS, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger and the upcoming SUV Citroen C3.
