The premium car maker in India Honda, on Wednesday launched its much-awaited new 2022 Honda City e: HEV Hybrid (Honda City Hybrid) in the country. With an ex-showroom price of Rs 19,49,900 in Delhi, the New City e: HEV is the first car in the mainstream segment equipped with strong hybrid-electric technology.

The new Honda e: HEV (Honda E: HEV) is the first product in the mid-size sedan segment to have a real hybrid engine. The car is capable of running on pure electric mode, and can also be driven with an internal combustion engine (ICE).

City e: HEV is equipped with Honda’s unique self-charging and highly efficient two-motor electric hybrid system that is mated to a smooth 1.5-liter Atkinson-bicycle DOHC i-VTEC petrol engine. With this technology, the Honda City Hybrid car delivers the world’s best electric-hybrid performance with superb drive, the excellent fuel efficiency of 26.5 km per liter, and extremely low emissions. At the same time, Honda City Hybrid has now become the highest mileage mid-size sedan car in the country.

Advanced Intelligent Safety Technology

For the first time in India, Honda has also introduced its advanced intelligent safety technology “Honda Sensing” with New City e: HEV. With this launch, the company has reiterated its global approach to zero carbon neutrality and collision deaths by 2050.

Honda City Hybrid Booking details

Honda had already started taking bookings for the City Hybrid sedan. Buyers can book a new Honda City Hybrid by paying an initial amount of Rs 21,000 at all authorized Honda dealerships across the country. It can also be booked online through the ‘Honda from Home’ platform with an amount of Rs 5,000 on the company’s official website.

Production is on

The Japanese carmaker recently introduced the new Pure Hybrid City sedan. The company has started its production at the company’s Tapukara plant in Rajasthan. The automaker recently rolled out the first unit of the hybrid sedan. The company is also offering a standard 3-year unlimited kilometer warranty and up to 5 years optional extended warranty and up to 10 years warranty from the date of purchase of the car.

Honda City Hybrid Engine, speed, and mileage

Speaking of the hybrid power train, the City E: HEV has a 1.5-liter Atkinson bicycle petrol engine that generates a combined power of 126 PS and 253 Nm of torque. The engine acts as a generator to charge the battery. While it can also run on pure EV mode or ICE mode, which the computer automatically switches. New City E: HEV gives a mileage of 26.5 km per liter. Also, the top speed of the car is 176 km per hour.

Great features

The 2022 Honda City Hybrid sedan has many great features. The cabin of the car has an 8-speaker system. It comes with smartphone connectivity, an 8.0-inch infotainment system, a smart key system, the latest Honda Connect app with Amazon Echo, and Google Assistant, which supports smartwatches with voice command function on select smartwatch models. The driver display is fully digital and has an auto-lock function.

Strong Safety Features

Honda City Hybrid has Honda Sensing technology, which gives it many safety features. The new City Hybrid car has features like Collision Mitigation Braking System, Road Departure Mitigation, Auto High Beam, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Lane Keep Assist. Also included are safety features like vehicle stability control, disc brakes on all four wheels, hill hold assist, parking hold, lane watch camera, multi-angle rearview camera, ABS with EBD, six airbags.

Honda City Hybrid Competition

In the Indian market, Honda City competes with Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai Verna and Skoda Slavia. The Honda City Hybrid has no direct competitors as this technology is not available in any of the competing models in this segment.
