Some spy images have also revealed that the XUV 400 EV will look quite different from Mahindra’s original XUV 300 sub-4 meter SUV. Mahindra’s new XUV 400 is expected to have a length of 4.2 meters as the sub-4 meter rule for subsidy benefits does not apply to electric vehicles.

The design of the Mahindra XUV400 will be different from the XUV 300

Talking about the design of the upcoming XUV 400, the profile of this vehicle will be slightly round instead of being boxy or flat like the XUV300. The rear design of this SUV has been completely redesigned. Apart from this, a new design tail gate and bumper design will also be seen in this vehicle. Talking about the tail-lamp design, it has also been completely revised.
Some more images of this model have revealed that unlike the regular electric cars, the charging slot will be placed on the front fender. Most of the design features of this new model from Mahindra will look similar to the e-XUV300 concept. The e-XUV300 was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo. The XUV400 will also get a closed front grille, different style bumpers, new headlamps and alloy wheels.
XUV400 to be based on MESMA
It is worth noting that this upcoming electric SUV from Mahindra is the first such production model of this company which is based on Mahindra’s Electric Scalable Modular Architecture (MESMA). This SUV will have two battery pack options and can also see a power train of 350V and 380V. Regarding the small capacity battery, it is being said that this battery can give a range of 300-350 km. According to reports, this battery will compete with Nexon EV. The same large capacity battery will give more range and will be seen challenging the Nexon EV Max, Hyundai Kona EV and MGZS EV.
Mahindra company will make many special announcements on Independence Day too
Apart from this, Mahindra is also going to launch e-KUV100 micro electric SUV. This vehicle will be launched before the end of this year. Apart from this, the company will showcase 3 new electric SUV concepts a few weeks later i.e. on August 15. Through these concepts, the design direction and technology of the upcoming electric SUV will be previewed.
