The Tata blackbird SUV is a new car coming from the company in the mid-size segment whose look has been taken from the Dark Edition of Tata Safari. According to the information, besides petrol and diesel options, it is also preparing to be launched in electric options.
The mid-size SUV segment is dominated by Hyundai Creta and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza these days, and Tata is working on its new SUV. It is codenamed blackbird. According to media reports, it will be a coupe SUV that will first be offered with a 1.5-liter petrol engine and a diesel engine option and an electric version may be made available later.
What will the SUV look like?
In terms of looks, it shares its design with the Dark Edition of Tata Safari, in which the whole look appears in black. However, it is expected to get a more luxurious and muscular design. On the other hand, cosmetic updates can be given to the exterior look of the cabin and a brand new rear design with a slick roof and large overhang can be seen. Upcoming cars with new silhouettes can be bigger than Tata Nexon in terms of size.
Not much is known about the interior, but to rival the rest of the cars in this segment, the Blackbird features like two-spoke steering wheel, automatic climate control, a rear multi-view camera, rear parking sensor, and push-button start/stop. Can be given.
Tata blackbird Engine Specification
There is no word yet on Blackbird’s powertrain, but according to media reports, Blackbird will have two engine options. The first is a 1.5-liter turbocharged diesel engine and the second is a 1.2-liter turbo petrol engine. Both of these engines will also be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard. Meanwhile, an electric variant can also be launched in the market. It is being speculated that the upcoming SUV may be equipped with the battery range of Tata’s recently launched Nexon Max.
Tata Blackbird Competition
Speaking of Tata Blackbird’s rivals, it will compete with Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Tata Harrier, MG Astor and Maruti Suzuki S-Cross in the Indian market.
